This was done for my "value" project in a design class. We had to analyze a Renaissance painting of our choice and convert it into three values of light and shadow, then transfer that into cutting it out of construction paper. I chose "Pallus and the Centaur" by Botticelli.
The second half of the project was to use all the same cutouts to create a non-representational composition, the result being something where I played with sharp value contrast and line flow between the shapes.
This piece was juried by a third party and chosen to be displayed in my school's student art show.
